Deepest Sympathy Mass Shooting, Nova Scotia

Dear Prime Minister Justin Trudeau,

For some reason this evening in my room in Paddington, London, England I watched the CBC''s The National edition from April 21, 2020.

It took me a few hours to come to terms with what I had seen. If the information regarding the ongoing consequences of Covid19 were not bad enough then the news of 22 Nova Scotian citizens being murdered in a mass shooting most certainly was.

Irrespective of the challenges I have faced in pursuit of social justice I still care for your country and Canadians in general.

Therefore, I cannot help but feel pained at this recent tragedy made worse by the fact 18 months ago I had philosophically and eerily predicted such a circumstance to you and others within your circles.

The only reasonable conclusion one can draw from this horrific sequence of events is that we live in a very precarious world choked with excessive stress and unpredictability.

It is why structural changes including how politicians, institutions and the judicial process behave in ways more condusive to fairness and humanity. Not just in superficial actions but in ways which demonstrate an understanding on what it really is to be humane based on the basic human needs of all citizens.

My assessment as an observant homeless person for the past three years is that there is tremendous anxiety and anger within Canadian society. Something is not right.

Canada appears blinded to its citizens apathetic inertia permitting such social inequities as escalating homelessness and the resulting unsavoury consequences to continue unchecked. Perhaps the pandemic engulfing the nation can be an epiphany for a brighter future. Could not get worse.

Again, I am deeply sorry for Canada' and the Province of Nova Scotia for your loss. Please accept my sincere condolences and anguish.
